State College boy, 12, hits local officer's truck: A 12-year-old boy driving his father's car on Friday struck a truck owned by a borough police officer, authorities reported.
Dannie Packer, 1051 Shiloh Road, was traveling west on Creekside Drive when he hit a parked truck owned by Thomas Jordan of the 100 block of Creekside Drive, State College police reported. Jordan is a State College Bureau of Police Services criminal investigator.
Packer and a passenger, Joseph Robinson, 9, of Zionridge Crest were not injured in the accident, police said.
It was not immediately known why the boy was driving the car, but police say they will continue to investigate the incident.

Women report harassment by 'intoxicated' group of men: A group of ten white men verbally harassed a group of five black women while attempting to coerce them into a car early yesterday morning, the women told borough police.
The women were walking in the 400 to 500 block area of South Garner Street when the men -- described by the females as intoxicated --uttered slurs and attempted to lure the group of women into the vehicle, police said.
After words were exchanged, several of the men uttered racial epithets, police said.
Authorities were unable to identify the men involved.

Pedestrian, infant son hit in Beaver Avenue mishap: A woman was cited for a pedestrian violation Saturday after she was struck by a car at the corner of South Garner Street and East Beaver Avenue, police said.
Theresa Igwe, 34, of 1660 W. College Ave., was carrying her four-month-old son, Okwwuoananka, across South Garner Street when she was struck by a vehicle traveling north, the State College Bureau of Police Services reported.
Igwe and her son were hit by a car driven by Raymond G. Richey, 20, of Nottingham, and thrown to the ground, police said.
Igwe was treated at Centre Community Hospital and released, according to a nursing supervisor at the hospital.
Police cited Igwe for crossing against the "Don't Walk" sign. Her son was not hurt, police said.

Coats reported missing from three fraternities: Coats were reported missing from three local fraternities in apparently unrelated weekend incidents, borough police reported yesterday.
A leather jacket valued at $265 was reported taken from Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, 501 S. Allen St. Saturday, the State College Bureau of Police Services said. The coat belongs to Lee Stelacone, 107 Irvin, police said.
A coat valued at $150 was reported missing from Phi Sigma Delta Sigma fraternity, 240 E. Prospect Ave., on Friday, State College police said. The coat belongs to Santosh Varghese, 206 Pinchot, police said.
Finally, a coat valued at $140 was reported taken from Delta Tau Delta fraternity, 429 E. Hamilton Ave., early Sunday morning, State College police said. The coat belongs to Deanna Carlson, 128 N. Gill St., police said.

Police decline to identify skating rink trespassers: State police will not identify the persons who forcibly entered Philipsburg Skateland Thursday.
The individuals entered through the furnace door and caused $50 damage to the door, Philipsburg state police said.
No items were reported missing from the skating rink, police said.

Driver speeds from scene after striking dog on road: A unidentified driver struck a dog near Port Matilda Saturday but failed to stop and check its condition.
A dog owned by Raymond Corl of Port Matilda sustained severe injuries when it was struck by an all-terrain vehicle on Smith Street, authorities said.
The driver failed to stop even after he was chased by a patrol car, Philipsburg state police said.
The accident occurred 50 feet east of the intersection of East Church Street and Smith Street, police said.

Rush Township accident destroys car, none injured: A one car accident in Rush Township Saturday resulted in the destruction of the vehicle involved, according to Philipsburg state police.
Rod Dunzik Jr., 17, of RD 1 Philipsburg was traveling east on Route 3036 in Rush Township when he failed to negotiate a turn, police said.
His car left the road and flipped over onto the roof, police said. Dunzik sustained minor injury but refused treatment.
His vehicle was reported as totally destroyed in the accident.
