Most of us never think about how important fire safety is until we live through a fire.

Considering the alarming number of fires we at Penn State have experienced in these past few weeks, I feel we all should start taking fire safety very seriously. Not just the girls in Hastings Hall and the men in the Veteran's House, but everyone at Penn State should start being aware of the importance of fire safety.

The goal of the Penn State Student Fire Safety Organization is just this to promote awareness of fire safety at Penn State. We feel fire safety is essential and hope the two fires in the State College area have convinced everyone else of its importance, as well.

Please start considering the serious effects fires have on people's lives. And please, start practicing fire safety now so you never have to face the reality of a fire destroying what you have worked so hard to have.
