The University's Strategic Study on the Status of Women will be discussed at the Autoport, 1405 S. Atherton, at a brunch sponsored by the Women's Alliance, Saturday at 9 a.m.
Betty Moore, chair of the Women's Alliance, said an informal discussion will be held at each table and lead by an Alliance member.
The issues that will be discussed have been well-publicized, such as by the University's Child Care Task Force and the Centre County Task Force on child care, she said.
The talks will also focus on the University's reclassification of nonacademic personnel, the recruitment and retention of women faculty and administrators, and child care for students and employees, Moore said.
The Women's Alliance sponsors a program about each month -- usually presentations that involve feature speakers or a panel, said Anne Nelson, membership head of the Alliance.
The brunch will enable the women to actively discuss the issues instead of having the ideas presented to them, Nelson said.
"We thought it would foster more informal discussion . . . We want the women to have a chance to talk," Nelson said.
The Women's Alliance is comprised of 125 women from the University and surrounding communities who meet regularly as a way to "network," said Moore. About 35 women are expected to attend the $5.50 per head brunch, but Moore said the program is open to everyone.
