WASHINGTON -- With the flag-draped West Front of the Capitol as a backdrop, George Herbert Walker Bush was inaugurated Friday as the 41st president of the United States of America.
 
With the help of computers, University researchers have been able to predict long-range climate changes, including past and possibly future ice ages, Jim Kasting, a University climate researcher said.
 
WASHINGTON -- The pomp and pageantry of a presidential inauguration is an event which takes only a day to celebrate, but it provides a lifetime of memories for those fortunate enough to attend in person.

With many of its top athletes nursing flu symptoms, the women's track team toughened up to make an excellent showing at Ohio State on Saturday.
 
A driving lay-up by Tanya Garner with 43 seconds remaining capped a late second-half comeback as the women's basketball team hung on for a 76-74 victory over Atlantic 10 foe George Washington Saturday in Washington.
 
Forward Bruce Blake celebrated Super Sunday with a career performance yesterday afternoon, pacing the Nittany Lions to a 96-80 victory in an Atlantic 10 showdown at Rhode Island.
 
Opening up its 1989 home season with a flash, the men's gymnastics team (3-1) claimed top honors in its first tri-meet of the season Friday night. The Lions, with a score of 268.20, easily downed Southern Connecticut (244.70) and East Stroudsburg (224.45).
 
Despite high scores, the Lady Lion gymnastics team was handed its first loss of the season on Saturday at Alabama, 188.65-182.50.
 
The men's volleyball team experienced both ups and downs this weekend at the Indiana-Purdue at Fort Wayne Invitational. The Lions defeated Indiana-Purdue, 15-10,18-20, 11-15, 15-2, 15-11, on Friday night, but were caged by No. l USC on Saturday, 15-10, 5-15, 12-15, 9-15.
 
The men's swimming and diving team squeaked by the University of Virginia, 123.5-119.5, in a meet decided by the anchor swimmers in the last relay.
