University students committed to increased recruitment of underrepresented groups discussed methods for relaying their experiences to prospective students last night at the Student Minority Advisory Recruitment Team meeting.
 
Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity may have just 12 members, but the chapter is dedicated to bolstering its numbers and its status.
 
The University's new card access system may be aimed at improving dorm security, but many students have reservations about the possibilities of system breakdown, vandalism, safety hazards and getting locked out.
 
The State Correctional Institute at Rockview yesterday dedicated the Pennsylvania corrections system's first medical and psychological treatment center.
 
Area resident Donna Queeney formally announced her candidacy for the State College Area School Board at a news conference yesterday afternoon.
 
The Pittsburgh Symphony will perform at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts in the summer of 1990, a symphony spokesman said yesterday.
 
The Undergraduate Student Government will hold a town meeting tonight at 7 in the HUB Fishbowl to discuss its drive for a completely open University budget.
 
The Centre Area Transportation Authority may expand Campus Loop service by adding a second bus to run along College and Beaver avenues, and CATA and the State College Chamber of Commerce hope to establish a new park-and-ride system that would include the Loop.
 
 
SPORTS
 
Intense training down South has made the men's swimming and diving team confident and optimistic as it enters its meet today at Shippensburg.
 
With his team struggling and lacking confidence, Coach Bruce Parkhill inserted two freshmen into the starting lineup for last Thursday's Atlantic 10 matchup with Massachusetts. The move paid big dividends as the Nittany Lions trounced the Minutemen and, on Saturday, traveled to Philadelphia and handed St. Joe's a 78-67 setback.
 
Two Penn State wrestlers, Jeff Prescott and Bob Truby, have been declared ineligible for the spring semester because they have not passed the minimum number of credits required after three semesters.
