Route change designed for better service

The Campus Loop just doesn't loop like it used to.

As of Jan. 4, the Loop route was changed to open Curtin Road for bus passage.

"The Loop is very similar to what we ran last semester," said Bruce Younkin, manager of Fleet Operations. "Opening Curtin Road and refining bus routes with more efficiency is the first stage of more bus service and better bus service."

The Loop is "trying to get more bus service," which would be "quick and direct for the majority of the student users," Younkin noted.

Additionally, the Deike Building stop has been eliminated from the route, which now continues down College Avenue to Atherton Street, said Danni Whitbred, secretary at Fleet Operations,.

Last semester's extended hours on Friday and Saturday nights, 12 a.m. to 3 a.m., will continue this semester, Younkin said.

"It was successful enough to continue through this semester to gather more data. If there's a good response, it will probably become permanent," he said.

The buses run every six or seven minutes on weekdays, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. On weekday evenings, the buses run every 10 minutes from 6 to midnight.

On weekends, the buses run from noon to midnight, every 10 minutes on Saturday and every 20 minutes on Sunday.

Time schedules and route maps are available at the HUB front desk and on the buses.
