Tired of jogging? Is cycling too much trouble? Then you may want to look into The Great Walk, a new event sponsored by the Centre Region Parks and Recreation Department.

Incumbent democrat Rep. Ruth Rudy will be running for her fourth term against Republican Greg Ferro for the state House seat in the 171st district in November. Rudy was unchallenged in this primary election. Ferro defeated Louis Winkler with 59.90 percent of the vote percent of the vote and 66 of 85 precincts reporting in the Republican race. Winkler received 40.90 percent of the vote. Results must still be officially confirmed by the Centre County Board of Elections.

About 200 men and women marched from the steps of Old Main last night, stopping at several dorms around campus and at Fraternity Row, in order call attention to rape awareness issues and to Take Back the Night" for women who have survived rape and sexual assault.

Local Dukakis campaign supporters said last night that momentum has definitely started," thanks to the Mass.governor's victory in the Pa.primary, while Jackson campaigners said their candidate is not going to call it quits" until the last primary results are in June 7.

Because of a Faculty Senate decision made yesterday, students graduating after this May could encounter difficulties getting their diplomas if an instructor fails to give them a grade.

Secretaries will be getting more orders from their bosses this week -- floral orders. But in honor of National Secretaries' Day, some University secretaries said they want raises, not roses.

Young, gifted, black and beautiful" is the theme for this year's Omega Psi Phi fraternity, Inc., seventh annual Miss Black Penn State Pageant to be held tonight at 7:30 in Schwab Auditorium.

The Penn State Marketing Assocation has received regional recognition and the honor of hosting a regional conference next fall.

University Student Trustee Christina Henke has been named one of Glamour magazine's Top 10 College Women for 1988.

A banner of cut-out letters reading "tip the pile" appeared mysteriously on Old Main lawn yesterday morning. The brown letters were strung high up between two flag poles and were removed shortly after 6 p.m.

With no playoff hopes and little chance for a better than .500 season, no one would have blamed the baseball team for playing a lackadaisical doubleheader against IUP yesterday.

This is the second segment in a two-part series focusing on paying college athletes. Today's article presents arguments against such a proposal.

The women's lacrosse team crushed an outmanned Bucknell squad, 24-2, yesterday at Bucknell. The win raised the Lady Lions' record to 12- 3 while Bucknell's record fell to 3-12.

As it rounds out the tail end of its 1988 season, the men's lacrosse team is hoping to go out with a bang. And after a 16-7 loss to Division III powerhouse Hobart last weekend, it goes without saying that the squad is in the mood for a win when it squares off against Bucknell tonight at 7.

During the 1986 National Championship year, Head Football Coach Joe Paterno had the fortune of possessing one of the best backfields in recent Penn State history. With tailbacks D.J. Dozier, David Clark, Blair Thomas and fullbacks Steve Smith and Tim Manoa, the Lions were spoiled with talent.

After losing a few close calls and the first game to Bucknell, 5-2, the softball team (26-16) rebounded and defeated the Lady Bison in the nightcap, 9-3, yesterday at Lady Lion Field.

Nan Sichler, who was named Player of the Week, and Cathy Kaminski, who garnered Pitcher of the Week honors, yesterday received recognition from the Atlantic 10 Conference.
