The new area government leaders, Association of Residence Halls Students and Residence Hall Advisory Board representatives elected yesterday are:

Music blared through the HUB Ballroom last night as supporters poured in with tension building as the hours passed, and nearly a hundred supporters waited for the Undergraduate Student Government election results -- an announcement that proclaimed Seth Williams and Amy Manderino as the new USG president and vice president.

Collegian Inc.'s Board of Directors selected Jan Miller (senior-agricultural economics) to be the new business manager of The Daily Collegian last night. Miller will begin her duties after the final press run of the semester.

An environmental bill recently submitted to Congress is calling for stricter federal regulations to help prevent oil spill disasters such as the Ashland oil spill that cut off water supplies to thousands of Pittsburgh residents in January.

If you still want to study abroad next spring but missed the application deadline, never fear.

State Rep. Ruth C. Rudy, D-Centre, recognized the efforts of the local Students Against Driving Drunk chapter and introduced a resolution proclaiming the month of May as SADD month.

Although eating is prohibited in library study areas, University libraries have seen a significant increase since last fall in the abuse of food and drink by its patrons.

University students can still register to vote in the April 26 Pennsylvania primary, but all applications must be in the voter registration office in the Centre County Courthouse before Monday.

A blood drive will be held today between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Wesley Foundation, 256 E. College Ave.

University Assistant Professor of Education Norman Frisbey was admitted yesterday morning to Centre Community Hospital after suffering from a full cardiac arrest, said Linda Burley, hospital nursing supervisor.

Different aspects of cutting-edge research in biology will be discussed in a day-long seminar today, said Richard McCarl, associate dean of the Graduate School for Fellowships and Awards.

The 120-day warning period was officially over yesterday for Pennsylvania's safety-belt-use law, meaning that $10 fines may now be issued to those who fail to buckle up.

SPORTS

Beginning what Head Coach Shorty Stoner called a new season," the baseball team split a doubleheader at Bloomsburg yesterday afternoon. Stoner's club won the first game, 4-2, then dropped the second, 10- 8, after leading early by six runs.

Many people grew up with a parent acting as a coach on a little league baseball team or cheerleading squad. Yet, many outgrow this situation by high school or college.

Penn State sophomore guard Mike Iuzzolino has decided not to return to the University after the completion of spring semester because the coaching staff could not guarantee him the playing time he wanted in the future.
