In light of two weekend fights, neighborhood CrimeWatch patrols organized by the Interfraternity Council will be put back on local streets.

It all began in 1977 with a $5 University correspondence course.

Members of the Undergraduate Student Government Senate continued to pass legislation last night even after almost half the Senate left when discussion of the Strategic Analysis Research Team recommendations came to a halt.

Although American and British students speak the same language, their educational systems are quite different.

The University has mandated a plus/minus system and the faculty is expected to use it, a student and the president of the University's Faculty Senate reminded the Faculty Senate's representatives at yesterday's meeting.

The University's Equal Opportunity Planning Committee recently formed a task force as part of a centralized effort to recruit and retain women and minority faculty and staff.

The vice president and dean of the University's Commonwealth Educational System, who recently announced his resignation, is helping Washington State University choose the site of its new branch campus.

U.S. Rep. William F. Clinger announced he will seek another term in office to steer Congress toward retaining jobs in the district and creating new ones.

Under a new community service program convicted first-time drunk drivers will be required to collect litter off of Centre County highways beginning in March.

Project Lion's Share, a service organization expected to form in March, is designed to fill the gap for students who want to serve the community but do not want to join one of the University's service organizations.


SPORTS

Former Penn State All-American linebacker Shane Conlan of the Buffalo Bills was named the 1987 NFL Rookie of the Year yesterday by the Professional Football Writers of America.

Following reports that three Nittany Lion football players have left the University, a spokeswoman for the University Registrar confirmed that Darin Roberts, Gary Wilkerson and Kevin Woods pre-registered for classes but have not attended any this semester.

The mens' swim team headed down to suburban Phiadelphia on Monday afternoon with one goal in mind: upset the undefeated Villanova Wildcats in their own pool.
