U.S. District Court Judge John Pratt's ruling that the Adams case - - a class-action suit that ordered the desegregation of 14 states' public higher education systems -- no longer has the legal standing to be upheld, is part of a legal history that started with the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

The State College State Police changed their name, effective Jan. 1, to the Rockview State Police, putting an end to a formerly confusing predicament.

A new governmental and educational access station will become available sometime in April to the viewing community.

Parishioners of St.Paul's United Methodist Church favor rebuilding the church at its present site, according to a survey conducted recently by church personnel in which 684 out of 2,000 members responded.

Penn State Head Coach Bruce Parkhill said his team's game yesterday afternoon with Rutgers set the game of basketball back 10 years.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- With all the criticism quarterback Rodney Williams has received throughout his career, one would think he played for Penn State.

Even though 1988 is only 11 days old, it's already that time of year again. Outside, the temperatures plummet and the landscape transforms into an opalescent wonderland.

The men's volleyball team completed a successful weekend in Canada yesterday, winning the Excalibur Classic in Toronto. The Lions are now 10-1 on the season.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The 1988 Florida Citrus Bowl was Christmas revisited for the Clemson Tigers, and Santa was very good to them.

ORLANDO, Fla.--Perhaps the team's buses broke down on the way to the stadium. Maybe the Lions got stuck in a perpetual loop on Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean. Or possibly the Penn State players decided to use the warm, sunny weather to work on their tans.

Chris Farrell's goal with 6:50 to play yesterday afternoon lifted the ice hockey team to a wild, 7-6 win over Erie (N.Y.) Community College and a sweep of a two-game, International Collegiate Hockey League weekend series in New York.

Tailback Blair Thomas will undergo surgery today after suffering an injury to the cruciate ligament in his right knee during an informal practice Dec.9.

Not much has come easy for the wrestling team this season.

Former Penn State All-American linebacker Shane Conlan, who helped lead the Lions to a national championship in the 1986 season, made a splashy debut in his first season with the Buffalo Bills and was awarded The Associated Press' NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
