The Daily Collegian's managing editor/content for 2004-05 led a group of six staff members to receive academic scholarships next year. The scholarships, distributed through Penn State's College of Communications, amounted to $7,713. Winners were staff members from both the News and Business divisions.

Winner of the 2005-06 Ostar-Hutchison Daily Collegian Scholarship was Managing Editor Bridget Smith. She is expected to fill that role again this year.

Smith was also one of four students to earn the Kent A. Petersen Memorial Scholarship. Other winners were Amber Brown from the News Division and Patrick Foglia and Joanna Lehnert from Business.

Winners of the 2005-06 Collegian Alumni Hall of Fame Scholarship were Sirage Yassin from the News Division and Lisa Conkle from Business.
