New Collegian scholarship to help students defray costs

The Daily Collegian has established a new scholarship to help Collegian students defray their educational expenses and to honor those who have played a large part in making the newspaper a success.

Collegian Inc. set aside $35,000 last year and another $17,000 this year to establish the Collegian Alumni Hall of Fame Scholarship. The first student to receive the award was Heather Cook, who was chosen in the spring (see story, this page).

Those wishing to give to the Collegian Alumni Hall of Fame Scholarship can do so by sending donations to Catherine McClain, College of Communications, 301 James Building, University Park, Pa., 16802.

The Collegian Alumni Interest Group (AIG) has also established a scholarship fund.

If you are interested in contributing to the Collegian AIG Endowed Scholarship, send to: Collegian AIG Treasurer c/o Judy Stimson, 17903 Cachet Isle Drive, Tampa Fla., 33647-2703.
